What is the purpose of Screven Baptist Association?
New Work Strategist:More and more churches are seeing that the most important reason to cooperate is to start new churches. Starting new churches and our association are inseparably linked.
Church Growth Strategist:Only 11% of all churches are experiencing conversion growth. Many churches have plateaued or are declining. Helping churches to experience breakout growth in conversions and discipleship is a major thrust of our association.
Mentor/Confidant to the Pastor: Today, the Director of Missions’ role is more appropriately described as a mentor or coach. He may serve as a confidant with whom ideas can be shared.
Source of Missional Opportunity:Whether mission trips or starting new churches, the association seeks to provide mission opportunities for all who wish to participate. For smaller churches with few resources, the association plays a key role in getting involved. For larger churches, that can do this on their own, the association may come alongside to assist and share valuable experience.
Network Facilitator:The association serves as a facilitator for churches. It can be leadership training for Sunday School, VBS training, deacon workshops, conflict intervention, ministry assistant’s training, or church consultations. The association exists to help our churches.
Source of Fellowship Opportunity:The need for fellowship among churches is crucial as we partner with God in mission and ministry. Pastors need support and encouragement. At other times they need a good listener.
